At first I was afraid, I was petrified.....

but I survived!!

Hello everyone, and thank you for all your farewell messages. Unfortunately for you, I have not kept quiet long (just long enough to get over a spot of jetlag), and I'm back!

The plane trip was pretty good all told, and no-one got hysterical - not even the kids. We are now spending a few days with our friends on Vancouver Island, pottering about doing short trips here and there. It is all so beautiful, with warm, sunny weather (which I'm told is not quite usual for this time of year) and I can see snow-topped mountains almost everywhere we go!!!!! It's so good to be here.

I have even driven our rental car several times, and have managed OK (though I have been driving as if I am about 90 years old- shoulders hunched up, fingers gripping the wheel tightly, forehead furrowed). Fatty, on the other hand, tried to annihilate his entire family today by swinging onto a highway on the wrong side of the road. I yelled, 'Wrong side, wrong side!', and quick as a flash we were once more driving legally and safely again. Whew.

I hope all the rest of you are driving safely and on the correct side of the road this week. Take care everyone. I will write another update soon.

PS: I may also post the odd piece of writing that has nothing to do with our trip (you know, just me raving on about whatever), and there may even be a guest post or two. I do try to keep you al entertained!

Hi Jelly! We are almost in the same time zone! But you are WAY over by the Pacific. Just start traveling southeast til you get to Georgia. Love your last line, were you trying to say y'all? Glad you made it safely and hope you enjoy your trip.

What a nice surprise to find an update on your blog! Didn't expect to. I'm glad you're having a lovely trip so far and that the plane ride went smoothly.
It's good that you're having warm, sunny weather. We're having floods! I've NEVER seen so much rain! Nice and sunny today but had a thunder storm tonight with more rain.
Driving on the 'wrong' side of the road.....yes, I've been there, done that :) Took a little getting used to.
My hubby (brilliant man that he is)finally gave me this tip..when driving, just remember you (the driver) are always next to the center line in whatever country..because the steering wheel in on the other side here. Why couldn't he have told me that when I first arrived in this topsy turvy country?
You keep us all very well entertained, thank you!

Jellyhead, so good to hear from you. I am happy that you and the family are having such a wonderful time in Canada.

FYI, if you have the time, Kentucky is southeast of you in the middle of the country. After visiting with us, you can head down to Texas to visit Heather, then east to visit Susan, then south to visit Tuffenuf, then finally north to visit Kerri. If you don't have the time, and your trip is already planned out, we will understand. It would be wonderful seeing you, though.

Hope the rest of your vacation is great and the weather holds out for you. Glad the kids are doing well on this trip. Tell Fatty to take Kerri's advice about which side to drive on. It was great hearing from you.

Whew! Close call, that. Hope we remember to drive on the right side of the road when we are in San Francisco in October. The last time I tried it, I had been in Australia only a couple of years, but already the left side of the road had started to feel right to me, if you get my meaning.

Enjoy the rest of your stay!

I didn't realize that you drove on the wrong side of the road in Australia:)

That sounds scary- wish these Americans would drive on the RIGHT side of the road- oh wait.. they do-LOL
Glad you made it over , you sound a bit more relaxed. Enjoy your time there and be safe all.

It's ok to drive on the wrong side of the road as long as there's a doctor in the car.

Glad you arrived safely.

Ha-ha! Every morning remind yourselves which side of the road is RIGHT! Glad you are having a good time. I agree with Motherkitty, you should swing by and visit us all. Who knows where these blog friendships will take us. Maybe we can plan a bloggie convention - somewhere in the middle ground for us all. Wouldn't that be fun? Enjoy your trip, hope you brought your camera. (if not, stop in Florida, I will loan you one!)

Yep, OK, stay on the right side of the road. RIGHT, RIGHT. Got it.

I've been quietly saying this to Fatty today when he's been driving. He told me I have permission to remind him as MANY times as I like.

I wish I could visit ALL of you in North America, but unfortunately it just isn't possible (not without very whiny, exhausted kids, anyway!). I honestly would LOVE to though. Maybe one day....

It must be very difficult to force yourself to stay on the right side of the road after driving on the left back home. Please be careful.

I also have been practicing staying on the right side of the road even though I have driven on this side all my life. I just haven't driven on the right side of the road on a motorcycle and I'm doing pretty well staying in my lane.
I hope I don't run into Fatty, on one of my practice rides. *LOL* Make sure that you are always in the car to remind him on which side to drive on.*S* Jimmy is always behind me giving me suggestions on how to ride. I appreciate the suggestions & reminders just as Fatty does...I also need them.

Jelly...you are close to MrsGreenThumb with just 2 states between you & her...the rest of us are much farther away.

Have a great time on your vacation and it was nice hearing from you.

Fun is a good thing even if jet lag is involved.
