in my dreams last night....

I was a tobacco lawyer. My job was purely to defend cigarette manufacturers against lawsuits. I was striding through the city streets, not ever reaching a destination. I came across an old school pal of high integrity, and she frowned and avoided my gaze. I was accompanied by my fat beagle dog on a leash. The dog snarled savagely at anyone who came within a few metres.

I was surfing the net, and came across a comment on another blog left by the delightful fifi. She signed off with her last name, which was filiaria (it has a certain ring to it, right? Fiona Filiaria?). I was thrilled to discover fifi's full name, and decided to look her up in the phonebook when next I visited her city.

I was shopping, and came across an older couple who are both patients of mine in real life, in the car park. "Wait, Bessie!", I beseeched the lady. "I want to show you something beautiful I bought. I'll just go to my car and be right back." But instead of going to my car, I got distracted and went back into the shopping complex. Two hours later I emerged, to see the sweet older couple still sitting in their car, waiting. I bolted over, and breathlessly apologised, mortified and desperately sorry. Bessie calmly replied, "I am extremely angry with you. What you did was terrible." They drove off.

There were other dreams, too, but more jumbled and nonsensical and incomplete. I am a profuse dreamer, and can recall at least one dream from every night, often many more. Other people I know, like Fatty, say they rarely recall their dreams. What about you?

I almost always recall my dreams & they are very weird dreams.
I don't even begin to try to analyze them:P
One of the most recurring dreams I have though is one where my teeth fall out. They just randomly loosen & then fall out of my head! Scares the crap out of me!

gosh.
Not only being DREAMT of, but given a splendid new name....

although, I must say it has a sort of, medical sound to it...perhaps a bit dermatological...

(oh, i have slight filiaria, all around my ankles...)

but, hey, I'll use it quite happily. Thank-you!

I dream a lot about my son, probably because teenagers are such a worry. I also dream about people that I haven't seen in years. I have heard that dreams are wishes, but they are sometimes so jumbled that it is difficult to make sense of them. I like most dreams except the ones that have you waking up scared. Maybe dreams are just like movies for our mind to just "get away for awhile".

Fascinating..the stuff dreams are made of, isn't it?
I don't seem to recall my dreams much these days, but last night I was lost in the subway of New York City, and couldn't remember our daughter's address, or my own. I was a confused elderly lady. Scary!
Yesterday our daughter invited us to NY City to spend Christmas with them, so NY was on my mind.

Interesting!!! I had a friend tell me once that to really analyze your dreams you should at the three strongest feelings you had from the dream and see how that fits into your waking life.

Anyway... I think I fit somewhere inbetween you and your husband on how often I recall dreams... sometimes a lot... sometimes not much at all.

eek, i have that teeth-falling-out dream too. strangely, i only started having it after a girl i was half in love with at school told me that she had a dream like that. i'm not half in love with her any more (this was a long time ago), but i still have the dream...

It's like I have a whole other life when I sleep and in my dreams I'm still young & thin...most of the time.

Oh lordy, I wish I didn't dream!
Dream after dream after dream, every night - it's exhausting.
Last night, I was a waitress at a successful restaurant, who had to climb treacherous, never-ending stairs from the kitchen to the dining room(??!!) - it then turned out the restaurateur was a arms dealer to make ends meet, which I found deeply shocking(!!??)
The details in my dreams are so intricate and particular.
I also have the teeth dream - I hate it!
I'm glad other people out there have over-active brains too.
As far, as your dream goes jelly, what did it tell you?

I dream often & very vividly! I can usually remember one dream from each night, or parts of dreams haunt me every day.
I started to write them down, & was strangely taken aback to re read some of them recently.

Oh Jelly, your brain was on overdrive wasn't it. Your first dream sounds like you've been reading John Grisham. I've blogged enough about my dreams - although the snake flood one has been back lately - ewwww. I wish I had dreams that made sense sometimes.

Oh I HATE that sort of dream where you never get to do the thing you set out to because of really stupid complications. You just don't feel rested afterwards.

Gee, that'll teach me to read posts properly! I thought you really did leave a sweet old couple in the car for two hours.....

Yes, I have weird dreams, too, Jelly. Take the other night...

I have been at my job for about seven years now but in my dream the practice manager (who wasn't the "real" one) came up to me and told me that in my first year there, I'd made so many mistakes I cost them $23,000 for the year. I asked why she hadn't told me about them at the time.

Then the dream segued into where I was at the doctor's for some reason or other. Later that day, I won $50,000 and having divvied it up in my head amongst me and my daughters, I had to bank it...at the doctor's!

You don't know a friendy psychiatrist, do you? (for me, not you)

Only rarely can I recall exact details of a dream even though they may have been so vivid just prior to waking. In the first few minutes, when I try to reclaim the details, I can feel them slipping away into a distant jumble, then gone altogether.

Mackey, Meli and freefalling - I have the teeth dream too!! I think we all secretly fear going gummy and needing false teeth!

fifi, now that I think about it, Filiaria is *very similar* to filariasis.... an infection with a type of parasitic worm. But please don't take this the wrong way!! You know I think you are fabulous!

Tuff, I dream about worries as well (in fact, I think I dreamt about this older couple because I had done some minor surgery on the lady 'Bessie' that day, and I was hoping it would all heal well for her). I hope Preston isn't causing you to have too many stressful dreams at the moment!

Kerri, Sandy, Heidi and Meggie - good to hear I am in good company with my vivid dreaming habits!

thisisme - nooooo, not that snake dream again! Maybe you could perform some sort of daytime toy snake-burning ritual...something symbolic to drive that dream out once and for all!!

Stomper Girl & Sheeps' Clothing - thanks for saying hi!

Puss-in-Boots,
Yes I do know a friendly psychiatrist. But he's mine, all MINE! (rolling eyes in a poor imitation of psychosis)

Alice, I think there are lots of people like you, whose dreams elude them. It might be a good thing, actually, after hearing how many of us dream horrible things like our teeth all falling out!

I've heard the teeth dream is about talking about other people. But my most recent one came when I had been alone (except for Vince) for about a week and hadn't been thinking unkind thoughts about anyone!
There's a deeper meaning here!

I go through periods of lots of dream recall and other periods of not much dream recall. I'm dreaming a lot at the moment. I have had a couple of recurring dreams over a period of years too.
