beach bound

I can be a bit of a Pollyanna. I can be hugely Pollyanna-ish, truth be told. Now that I am married to Fatty, I tell myself that I have to be the cloud-silver-lining seeker, to counteract Fatty's natural state of discontent and ingratitude (Did I mention I am prone to exaggeration, as well as Pollyanna-ism?)
I'm telling you about my Pollyanna tendencies because today, as I prepared for our week away at the beach, the thought occurred to me that I was grateful we didn't live at the beach all year round. I am so excited every time we go to this same beach unit, at the same beach, with the same friends - and somehow I don't think I'd feel the same anticipation and thrill if we lived there always.
So tomorrow we head off for seven days of sticky sunscreen, ice-creamed elbows, warm whooshing waves and sandy sheets at night. This Pollyanna is takin' a break!
Look after yourselves (and don't forget to find those silver linings!)

Have a wonderful holiday at the shore, Miss Pollyanna. We expect some nice posts and pictures upon your return. Have fun with your friends and family, and don't worry. We'll all be here waiting for you when you get back.

Jelly,
Go....enjoy every second of every day. Wrap that silver lining around you and your family and friends and just have a glorius time.
Now, to you and Fatty, as I would say to my kids: Drive safe and look out for the other guy!

I understand. I used to be a big fan of camping in the woods. Then we moved out to the middle of nowhere and every day is like camping. (With amenities of course.)

Suddenly, I no longer enjoy camping.

But I really, really wish I lived closer to you to enjoy that beach....

Have a wonderful wonderful break - say hello to the ocean for me and tell it I'll be back soon.

What? You're going to the beach again and not taking us??? Now I'm mad. Really mad. Here we are, stuck in snowdrifts up to our ears, and you're off gallivanting (there's a lot of that going on lately) at the beach!
Seriously dear Jelly, Pollyanna, or whatever your name is
(:-), I hope you and your family and friends have a wonderful time. Say hello to the ocean for me too, and send along a whiff of the sea air please. xoxo

Looks wonderful, Jelly. I think you're quite right about appreciating that place more if you don't live there permanently.

I was thinking just the same thing as we enjoyed another weekend of camping out at our 10 acres near Castlemaine. If we had built a house there we would probably not sit out under the stars, listening to the sounds of birds and other creatures, and even after owning the place since 1983, we still look forward to the different experience it provides.

I hope you are all having a wonderful time. I know what you mean about appreciating the beach more because you don't live there.

We have contemplated buying a place at the coast but came to realise that if we lived there, most of the time we would be doing much the same things as we do now and we wouldn't appreciate the novelty we feel on our four or so visits to the coast each year. If we lived there, we couldn't spend ALL our time on the beach.

I love going to the beach and I'm sure that I wouldn't get as excited about going to it if I lived there. I onced lived just a couple of miles from the beach and I only visited it twice...Now I miss it a lot since I only get to see it once or twice a year.

Have fun!
