defeated by a bee

Do you see these assorted insect parts? Do you see the smeary marks on the table? Now, do you think that this photo in any way resembles a bee????

Of course it bloody doesn't. It looks nothing like a bee. At the Pom Pom Pals factory, they obviously produce art packs designed to defeat and humiliate adults, never mind 3-year-old children. I bet every night those pom pom pal designers go home and snigger to themselves, wondering how many fully-grown men and women they have reduced to tears that day. Hmmph. Pah! Bugger bugger double bugger. I've no inclination for tears, but I'd love to flush this goddamn bee!!

I would have been tempted to rip the bee's head off, if only the bee's head was attached to its' body. It seems there is no glue sticky enough to unite head and body. The glue seems to stick to my fingers extremely well, yet strangely has no affinity with the pom poms. I don't really know why I persisted beyond the first step of trying to attach the eyes. Those little suckers were determined to resist me from the get-go. They were free spirits; wild, roaming eyes. I could not tame them.

I think this bee is representative of how my day has been in general - badly-organised and ultimately quite unsuccessful. My frustration levels are...well, elevated. Nothing so terrible has happened; nothing has gone very smoothly, though. I tried to be an interactive, hands-on mother and ended up swearing under my breath at a bee. A pom pom bee. Well yes, pieces of a pom pom bee, to be precise. I know! - get a grip, woman!

Ah well, I'll be much better in a couple of hours. The cure to all stress awaits ...... my karate class! Whoo-hoooooo!

You can order a giant-size fly swatter through E-Bay... unfortunately, the ad says, "Some assembly required".

LOL - sorry your bee reminds me of projects I have tried that were for the younger crowd and I couldn't figure them out.
Good luck with the bee - maybe pretending you are swatting it at karate class will help.

I have problems with things designed for children too. never mind, that is when you can go into the kitchen and whip up a batch of ginger crunch...yes another recipe for you! You will need to work very hard at karate class if you keep all this baking up you know :)

Ah, John, you are always so witty and succinct!

Double knot, I don't mind you laughing.... it really was a pathetic story!

Flossy, I am coming right on over to your blog for that recipe!

HA-HA The bee looks like he flew at high speed into a screen door! Get some colored sculpty clay. You can build some characters with it and it doesn't stick to your hands (too much) When you are finished making a fiqure, you can bake it in the oven for 15 minutes, then it is hard and permanent. That's the most crafting that I know how to do!

Who wouldn't be frustrated with that mess of parts that don't seem to go together? The assembly probably needed just a bit of honey to get sticky. (At least it wasn't a real bee you were messing with as I thought from the title of your post.)

Sometimes when I get a beading pattern I think the same thing. They must be laughing thinking that I'm trying to decifer this.

How humiliating to be defeated by a fuzzy pom pom bee. Better let the bee be. Onward and upward! Or you could just go bury your head in a book :)

Did you try crazy glue? The glues that come with children's toys never seems to stick anything together. But be careful with crazy glue because if you stick your fingers together you'll have to see a doctor to get them apart. LOL

Speaking from experience: Don't try the crazy glue!! Recently had a mishap with a craft gone awry, and I foolishly thought crazy glue would fix it. It fixed something alright, me! My husband still cracks up when he thinks of me with all my digits glued together and stuck on my pants. I admit, it was a sight!

Foiled by the bee. Nature always wins.

I'm going to add you to my linky love list.. How's that for alliteration?

Oh the poor bee :(. Just kidding. I share such frustrations... I've been there many times. Only the victim in our house is usually a Barbie doll or even something as minor as a styrofoam plate.

Karate class sounds like fun!! I hope you got some of that frustration out. Oooh the endorphins must be awesome!!

Hmm yeah those things are meant to try us for sure... I mean think about some of things we get our children, nieces / nephews and our younger cousins and then have to some how help assemble them, well you did bring so can you help me build it, even following the instructions (which are of may as well be in manadrin chinese) you fail, then they go oh yeah and build it in a snap. ** Hugs the jellyheaded one **

I am not a very crafty person and I am always finding myself in a predicament when it came to helping my kids with a craft. Papa Bear usually gets those projects. *VBS*

Hope the karate class helped to get your frustrations out!

I pity your karate partner at your class! You would have been getting rid of a fair few frustrations there.

Enjoyed everyone's comments. Yes, it did look like a spider part had snuck its way into the bee package.

Thanks for the warning on crazy glue. Reminds me of the time I was learning how to cover books when I was working in a one-person library and had to do everything. I was trying to come to grips with that adhesive stuff on huge rolls and was covering a large (expensive) art book. I think it came to grips with me instead - a colleague had to rescue me.
