I guess when you post as infrequently as I've been, no-one thinks you're dead/ill/seriously depressed when you don't post for a month. No-one leaves worried little messages saying 'Hello Jelly? Are you OK?'. Which is a good thing, because I am none of the above. However, it does make me realise that I need to write more often. After all, I have gotten to know (in a fashion) lots of lovely bloggers out there, and it seems my communication with you all has been slowly slipping away.
Like everyone, I get to feeling overwhelmed by the demands of work and home and life in general. I wrote an e-mail to a good friend of mine saying, tongue in cheek, "I've decided I don't want to see any patients who are sick. I want to see only happy, healthy ones, and even then only rarely." Sounds awful, doesn't it? In truth I think I was just a little burnt-out; in need of a break from work.
So part of the reason for not writing has been that we took a ten day holiday. Much to the shock of other parents at the school (some of whom actually tutt-tutted me!), this holiday was taken during school term. The photo above shows what our kids were doing instead of being at school. (Fatty and I like to think of education in more flexible terms!)
So anyway, I'm back - both physically and in spirit. I'll be visiting you all very soon.

Good to hear from you again. I'm also posting intermittently at present. I am delighted by the comments that people leave, but I only write when I have (a) the energy, and (b) something interesting to say. Seems a reasonable policy.
I had noticed your absence but got a bit snowed under myself! I think a beach holiday in the face of a burn-out was an excellent prescription on your part. And poo to missing a few days of school, I bet it made no difference at all scholastically.
Yes, I knew you were all right when you posted a comment on my blog. Thank you!
Your children don't look as though they are at the serious and important exam stage, so I bet they benefitted as much as you and fatty (may I call him that?) did.
That photograph of your children is beautiful. May I come too next time????
....and here I thought you had gone and set up another blog and left us your 'old' and 'real' friends forever!!!
Re - kids out of school....tut tit for not doing it more!! You know I drag mine out of school each year for a few weeks - so I can have a nicew warm holiday!! Kids learn so much more from being away....you can see what kind of teacher I am going to be!!
'Oh Mrs Smith - don't worry about Tommy missing one day - you should take the week off and enjoy yourselves! In fact take two!!!"
Glad you are back - I have been absent too.
..should be "tut tut' - clearly a typo!!
Jellyhead,
Of course I missed you. I knew you were involved and would slip back in when you could.
I talked to a friend from Denver, night before last. We lived together in a hooch in Vietnam. We only talk to each other on or around the Marine Corps birthday (Nov. 10). Doesn't diminsh the friendship.

Welcome back to the world! I hope your vacation from work and home and blogging was very refreshing and reaffirming. Your patients and your family and us your readers will all benefit I am sure!
What a glorious place to take a diversion holiday of at least 10 days. The kids look so happy playing in the surf. Wish I had been there to join in the fun.
I, too, have been remiss in posting these past six months. A lot has been happening during this time and, just like a lot of people, I've re-prioritized what I want to do with my time. Now, however, it's time to get back to blogging.
Note to self: try not to be too serious when posting on blog.
Lovely to see your comment today.
Life's too short to add another "must" or "should".
Let this world be about "ebb and flow".
Well, speaking as a teacher, let me give you a punishment exercise.
Glad you had a nice time. One day those children will off and leave you... Sorry - there you were, not depressed... Thanks for the sympathy.
Jelly dear, good for you and Fatty carting those kids away to the beach. You really must stop going without me though!
But thanks for the photo anyway. Ahh....sifting sand and salty sea water. I have serious Aussie beach envy...especially when the temps are dropping here. Actually we had beautiful sunshine and mild temps today. But it won't last!!! :(
So glad you got away for a nice break.
It was lovely to see you comment in my inbox this morning :) Ross says hello back!
Good to see you back, Jelly, and why shouldn't you take a break? Being a GP must be quite a stressful job and you're no good to your patients if you're burnt out. So, I hope you, Fatty and the children feel rejuvenated now.
I don't post as often as I used to, either. Seems to work for me and like a bad penny, I turn up every now and again.
Sounds like you had a really nice break!!! Yay! A few missed days of school won't hurt!!! Especially to spend time with family!
Welcome back! It is so good to read you took that break, I am sure it was of great benefit to the children too!
I had been wondering, been here looking...
WV is 'windowns'!
Good for you! Glad you took a holiday!
Oooh the beach!
