my riveting weekend....

As I posted these pictures, I was thinking what an uneventful weekend it has been, and how good that was. Funny - when Fatty and I first were married, I was always keen to go somewhere, do something on Saturdays and Sundays. It was a 'wasted' weekend if we simply poked about the house and yard.

Having children alters your perspective enormously. Suddenly it is an unexpected delight if the little ratbags play happily long enough for me to read the papers. I enjoy the peaceful rhythm of making my favourite carrot cake, and giving the kids a spoon each to lick when I'm finished. I even get some warped satisfaction from bringing in sunshiney sheets from the washing line, and making up the beds with fresh-smelling linen. And of course, after last weekend, I consider our family truly blessed simply because no-one is losing digestive by-products from any orifice. The flowers are showing their faces all around the garden, and it's perfect spring weather.

All in all, it's been a grand old weekend!

Your pictures are so lovely...flowers, wash, dog, kids..perfect!
I especially love the one of the kids.
Glad you had such a pleasantly dull and boring weekend :)
PS I named a kitten after you!

I'm happy to see that Laura Lou is now well enough to play games and that Ben did not come down with the same ailment.

Your Sunday morning post is most soothing. All the pleasant things that make your mundane life exciting.

Daughter alipurr gave us two new white kittens who are now esconced in the bathroom. My Sunday morning snooze was interrupted around 5:30 a.m. by loud sqealing from one of them as husband was tending to their needs. I am now awake!

Thanks for sharing your weekend with us.

Sometimes peaceful weekends are a long awaited bliss. It's great when nothing eventful happends and all runs smoothly. I'm also glad that no one else got sick...what a blessing that was.

Nice to see pictures of Laura & Ben again...they've grown since you last posted pictures.

Can I come to your house Jelly?

That carrot cake looks yummy, and there is nobody sick over there anymore.

Because the idea of pandering to my husband's sick bed demands are giving me a headache.

And he's not even home yet.

I need me some chocolate...

Glad to hear that your world is right back as it should be. Family well, cakes to bake, children at play, a dog to tickle, the sun is shining and the flowers are brightening your life. Life's Good!

I am so glad everyone is in excellent health! I love the Monopoly picture...your kids are so 'neat'! You're one of the few people I know that truly treasures being together with the family, doing "perfectly nothing".

Also, I did a double-take when you said it was spring, because we are having fall (blustery wind, brilliant crimson leaves)...I guess all that northern & southern hemispheres stuff they teach you in school isn't just academic!

Ok, and one more thing: Liam Neeson is one heck of a hot man, I'll give you that...but he's just so... so.... NICE, which is the problem I think...

My thoughts and feelings exactly!! How funny our weekends were similar minus the dog and remaking the beds. We made a coffe caramel cake and I also taught the kids Monopoly for the first time! I wonder if the way we play Monopoly says anything about how we will function financially in the real world. Just the two girls and I buying up all we could, Shay was very determined though had no concept of money , even the £500 that she lost on the floor for ages. I was left with £15 not long into the game and then we were all so desperate to get the £1050 that was in the community chest it started to get ugly!!! Shay claimed her dice was a one that she needed, though it was on the floor and she picked it up before we could see it! Zoe and I didn't believe her so she ran away!! Zoe and I quickly snapped up and divided her properties and then gave up because it was taking too long!!!! Fun fun fun

What a blissful weekend!

If we had cool weather,- which was often- I used to make picnics, & we would all have a picnic on the lounge floor!
Loved having my kids!
