Happy Australia Day!!

It's a holiday across the country, to celebrate AUSTRALIA DAY!!!

I'm proud of our country. It is a beautiful place to live. We are very fortunate in so many ways.

Australians have their flaws, but on the whole we are friendly people who believe that life is to be enjoyed not endured. We know the value of savouring the joys of everyday life, and we do!

Today Fatty, Laura, Benjamin and I are having a BBQ on the back deck of our dearest friends...it may be cliched, but to us it's the perfect way to honour AUSTRALIA DAY!

Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Aussie bloggers, and especially to Alice , Shelly , and Flossy, and also to honorary Aussie Wendy A !

(the photos are TOP: view of flowering trees in our neighbour's backyard, MIDDLE: the beach from our last holiday, BOTTOM: the creek at my Mum's farm)

Australia Day - that must be your independance day, I assume? I know so little about the other countries of the world. Many people in America travel to Europe for vacation. I have never had a desire to do that. However, I have always wanted to visit Australia - since a cop friend of mine went there. He told me that when cops visit Australia, the local cops are so hospitable that they put you up in their houses, then as you travel across the country, they call ahead to the next town, and another cop invites you to stay at his house! He told me that he spent two weeks in Australia, and met so many other officers and never once stayed in a hotel or lodge! Is everyone in Australia as nice as you, Jelly? I am starting to think so!

The pictures are beautiful.

Australia is the only other country I have ever wanted to visit, but that seems very unlikely...so your pictures are as close as I'm going to get...I love them.

Have a Happy Australia Day and enjoy your BarBQ with friends.

Lovely post, and lovely pictures. You are correct -- you do live in a beautiful country. Happy Australia Day to you, your family, friends, and fellow countrymen.

Jelly - I hope you had a great Australia Day. I think you're right - okay there are some things wrong with Australia but there's a heck of a lot that's right, too. Compared to many other countries, I'll take this one, thank you.

Thank you for your good wishes too. I've just come in and logged on - but I'm sure you're not in bed yet?

Your flowers are so beautiful, your beach to majestic, your mother's creek so tranquil looking -- a lot of beauty in this world.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments.

Tuffenuf, I think most Aussies are decent people, but like anywhere you get people who behave badly towards others. But thank you for thinking so well of us all!

Abandoned In Pasadena, I'll keep posting photos for you then :)

Heather, come over soon!

Alice, I'm not in bed yet, but I plan to be very soon. Hope you had a good Aussie Day, too.

Goodnight all!

I'm a day late, but HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY Jelly! We did just like you and had a barbie with friends. Played backyard cricket, hi-jinx in the pool and generally had a fun time. It's what we do every year, and I never tire of it :)

Oh, what great photos! I think from here to there is a 17-hour plane ride (or something ridiculous like that). I think it would be well worth it though.
